Join us in person at Bethlehem Church in Minneapolis or on Zoom

The term “ambiguous loss” was coined to describe this state of grief that has no end. It is unclear, uncertain, and lacks permanency. It can be challenging because it is not easily recognized in our society as a tangible loss and can exact a great toll on the mental well-being of caregivers. This presentation will explore the emotional toll, challenges, and coping strategies involved in caregiving through uncertain and often isolating circumstances. They are shared through the personal and professional insights from a caregiver’s journey caring for a husband with early onset dementia.

  • Describe the two types of ambiguous losses and how both can be felt at the same time.

  • Identify the effects/symptoms of ambiguous loss to know if you’re experiencing it so you can get the help and support you need.

  • Know how to manage mental health symptoms associated with this type of loss.

  • Take home practical tools for self-care and resources for coping with ambiguous loss.
